Just like the Cobra S2 drivers, Cobra golf has made a great stride in 2010 with the S2 irons.  While not designed for the low handicap golfers, the Cobra S2 irons are very forgiving and accurate.  With that being said though, Cobra golf does make the S2 Forged irons for the lower handicap players.  Best Golf Equipment Reviews is going to discuss the different types of the Cobra S2 irons.

Cobra S2 irons:


As Best Golf Equipment Reviews stated earlier, the standard Cobra S2 irons are very forgiving and accurate.  In the Cobra S2 irons, Cobra utilized a new cavity design that optimizes heel-toe weighting by using lightweight polymer materials in the cavity construction that allow discretionary weight to be pushed low in the heel and toe, and to increase MOI.  In addition to the new materials, Cobra uses the unique Mid-Width Stepped Sole in the S2 irons to provide superior turf interaction.

Here are the specs for the Cobra S2 irons:
  • 3 iron: 19 degrees
  • 4 iron: 22 degrees
  • 5 iron: 25 degrees
  • 6 iron: 28 degrees
  • 7 iron: 31 degrees
  • 8 iron: 35 degrees
  • 9 iron: 39 degrees
  • PW: 43 degrees
  • GW: 49 degrees
  • SW: 55 degrees
  • LW: 60 degrees
All of the standard Cobra S2 irons are available in men's and women's in addition to graphite shafts or steel shafts.  The price of the Cobra S2 irons is $699.99 with graphite shafts and $599.99 with steel shafts.  That price includes 3-PW.

Cobra S2 forged irons:


Built with the same theory as the standard Cobra S2 irons, the S2 forged irons are designed for players looking for better feel and a traditional tour shaped iron.  The Cobra S2 forged irons feature a forged 1025 carbon steel metal with CNC milled groves, cavity back, perimeter weighting, and tour shaft for better ball flight.  The forged metal will create more consistent ball strikes while the cavity back provides some forgiveness.  

Here are the specs for the Cobra S2 forged irons:
  • 3 iron: 19 degrees
  • 4 iron: 22 degrees
  • 5 iron: 25 degrees
  • 6 iron: 28 degrees
  • 7 iron: 31 degrees
  • 8 iron: 35 degrees
  • 9 iron: 39 degrees
  • PW: 43 degrees
  • GW: 49 degrees
As you can see the lofts are the same for all the Cobra S2 irons but the Cobra S2 forged irons have .5 degree less lie and .25 inches shorter than the standard S2 irons.  The price of the Cobra S2 forged irons in steel shaft is $799.99.  Graphite shafts are not a stock item.

Best Golf Equipment Reviews hasn't hit the Cobra S2 irons yet but word on the driving range is that they are a nice golf club.  About the only bad thing that we have heard from fellow golfers is that they don't like the low loft on the pitching wedge.  While 43 degrees is a little bit lower than most pitching wedges, Cobra golf does offer the gap wedge at 49 degrees to fill any possibly gaps.  Head down to your local golf club store and find out why Golf Digest rated the Cobra S2 irons as a silver star for the 2010 Golf Digest Hot List!
